It All Began in 2015...
C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy began in 2015 with a vision to create a premier space for athletes of all levels, from toddlers to adults, to thrive in the world of gymnastics. The club was founded by World Champion gymnast Natalia Yurchenko, whose passion for the sport and dedication to the development of young athletes laid the foundation for the gym’s mission: Passion. Challenge. Fun.
Operating out of a spacious 23,000+ square foot rental facility, the original location was nothing short of a dream. With a well-equipped setup that included a designated team gym, recreational gym, and a separate preschool gym, C.I.T.Y. Club became a vibrant hub for gymnastics in Chicago.
The club offered a full range of programs, from the Developmental program and Xcel teams for girls, alongside recreational classes catering to everyone from 15-month-old toddlers to adults.
For seven years, the facility became home to hundreds of athletes, pushing them to achieve their personal best in a supportive and challenging environment. However, in 2022, unforeseen circumstances led C.I.T.Y. Club to relocate, allowing it to continue serving the community with resilience and dedication.
2022 A New Adventure Awaits!
Despite the sudden and heartbreaking displacement, the spirit of the gym never wavered. Natalia and her team acted swiftly to secure temporary spaces, moving operations to XS Tennis at 5336 S. State Street and a smaller 700-square-foot location at 1720 S. Michigan Avenue. Though the space was limited, the determination to continue the club’s mission remained strong.
After a brief stint in the smaller location, the club found a more suitable home at 2028 S. Michigan Avenue, a much larger facility. Today, C.I.T.Y. Club operates out of both the 2028 S. Michigan location and the XS Tennis facility on S. State Street. These locations continue to serve as a beacon of excellence for Chicago’s gymnastics community, embodying the club’s core values.
Despite the challenges, Natalia Yurchenko’s unwavering leadership has ensured that C.I.T.Y. Club remains a sanctuary for gymnasts to grow, learn, and achieve their dreams, regardless of the setbacks. The club continues to nurture young talent, keeping its original vision alive in new and exciting spaces.
