What’s included in a C.I.T.Y. Club membership?
A membership at C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy includes priority enrollment for sessions, 10% discounts for siblings and multiple classes, savings on camp registrations, exclusive C.I.T.Y. Club apparel (choice of leotard or T-shirt), and special discounts for events.
What should my child wear to class?
At C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy, our dress code prioritizes safety and comfort for all participants and coaches. Here are the guidelines:
Clothing: For recreational classes, children can wear athletic shorts or pants with a T-shirt or tank top. We encourage students to wear their C.I.T.Y. Club apparel or a leotard/unitard if they’d like. For team gymnasts, girls should wear a leotard (no tights or skirts) for optimal movement and safety.
Footwear: Bare feet or gymnastics slippers are allowed. Shoes and socks are not permitted, as they can lead to slipping or tripping.
Jewelry & Accessories: To avoid injuries, gymnasts should not wear jewelry, body piercings, watches, or clothing with zippers, belts, buckles, clasps, snaps, or hoods.
Hair: Hair that touches the shoulders should be secured in a ponytail, pigtails, or bun to keep it out of the face. Hair accessories should be soft with no hard parts.
Nail Care: Fingernails and toenails should be kept short for safety.
Can new customers try a class first?
Instead of offering trial classes, we encourage new customers and those interested in learning more about gymnastics to attend our Open Gym every Saturday from 2:00–3:30 PM. This is a relaxed, unstructured event where participants can explore the equipment and enjoy the space at their own pace. While there is no formal class structure, a coach will be present to assist if needed or upon request. It’s a great opportunity to experience C.I.T.Y. Club and see how gymnastics can be fun for all levels. We look forward to seeing you there!
Are Open Gym, Camp, PNO, and other events the same as gymnastics classes?
While all of our C.I.T.Y. event programs include gymnastics-related activities, they do not replace the structured instruction provided in our session-based classes. Events like Open Gym, Camp, and PNO are designed to be fun, energetic, and a great way to experience gymnastics in a more relaxed setting. In contrast, our session-based classes are focused on skill development, using progressions to build strength, flexibility, and technique for mastering more advanced gymnastics skills.
How does my child progress to the next level?
Progression to the next level for recreational girls is based on both instructor evaluation and the gymnast’s readiness. Readiness includes not only mastering the physical skills of the current level but also emotional and mental preparedness. Each level has specific skills that must be mastered before advancing. Once your child has achieved all the required skills for their current level, their coach will personally invite them to move up. You can track skill progress and updates in the Parent Portal.
What does it take to make the competitive team?
Joining Team Yurchenko requires more than just a love for gymnastics; it takes a strong competitive spirit and a commitment to many hours of practice and meets. Coaches will evaluate gymnasts, ages 5-7, throughout each session to identify potential candidates for the Girls Pre-Team. If your gymnast is from outside the Club and interested in being considered for evaluation, please reach out to us at team@cityclubgymnasticsacademy.com for more information.
What if my child misses a class?
Due to the progressive nature of gymnastics, we do not offer make-up classes for regular session classes. Each session builds on the previous one, and instructors tailor their lessons to the students in their class. Adding new students or increasing class size during the session can disrupt the learning process for everyone.
However, if your child misses a class, they can make it up by attending a single session at Open Gym on Saturdays from 2:00–3:30 PM or at Parents’ Night Out on alternating Friday nights. Make-ups must be completed by the end of the following session, and only one make-up per session is allowed. We do not prorate or refund for missed classes.
To redeem a make-up, simply register for your preferred event in the Parent Portal and enter the date of the missed class in the “MAKE-UP OPTION” section. In the event of a Club closure due to weather, we will credit you with Open Gym time. Tuition is prorated for Club holiday closures at checkout.
